Tactile Boston

Tactile Opens New Studio in Boston

April 2, 2018

Today, Tactile is proud to announce we’ve opened a new studio in Boston, Massachusetts. The studio will be led by newly appointed, VP of Design, Rich Hanks. A Massachusetts native, Rich has been a Design Director in the Seattle studio for the past six years and prior to joining Tactile, he worked in-house at Microsoft and Motorola. Why Boston? We specialize in designing tools for professionals in the medical and industrial product industries, so Boston seemed to be the right fit for us to open an additional design studio. Tactile brings a multidisciplinary design approach made up of industrial design, interaction design, and mechanical engineering to the East Coast. Our new studio gets us closer to our current partnerships and gives us an opportunity to connect with the growing Medtech innovation community in Boston. Interested in learning more about Tactile and our new studio? Give us a shout and we’d love to meet up!

Tactile Speaks at the UW School of Art

March 9, 2018

Last month Tactile Industrial Designer, Aaron Piazza, presented to Audrey Desjardin’s, a University of Washington (UW) School of Art Assistant Professor, sophomore interaction design class at the UW. Aaron walked through Tactile’s storyboarding process using examples that demonstrated the differences between how we storyboard for user experience, user interface, and industrial design projects. Aaron discussed the level of fidelity of storyboards depending on the feedback you’re looking for, what stage of the project you’re in, and who your audience iscritical elements during the design process. It’s exciting for us to share our process with others and especially, with future designers. Big thanks to Audrey and the UW for the opportunity to offer our design insights!
