Women in Design Deep Dive Event

Earlier this month Tactile had the honor of sponsoring IDSA’s Women in Design Deep Dive in San Francisco. It was an incredible event listening to strong, talented women tell their stories about the struggles and accomplishments of working in an industry historically and predominantly inhabited by men. We look forward to continued progress for women in not only design but all industries. Let’s hear it for the ladies!

Another win!

We are thrilled to announce that Tactile won two 2013 Bronze International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Characteristic of Tactile, the awards celebrate work in diverse disciplines: concept development and usability research for a global health product (Intellectual Ventures Lab’s “Cold Chain” device), and full product redesign for the Liposonix Body Contouring System. They also represent Tactile’s growing engagement in the fields of med–tech and global good—and it seems we’re on a roll. Read more about Liposonix here or Intellectual Ventures here.

TACTILE SPONSORS IDSA CONFERENCE

Tactile sponsors the 2012 Western District IDSA conference here in our hometown of Seattle, WA. A message from IDSA’s Western District VP… “I am pleased to announce the upcoming Western Design Dialogue Conference, May 4-5 in Seattle. The theme for all five 2012 Design Dialogue Conferences is Evolving Design Practice. Our focus within that theme is Breaking Boundaries. Now for something completely different! Industrial designers are pushing across the boundaries of other disciplines, bringing their unique perspective, using creative thinking and user-centered approaches to solve various problems. Today, industrial design is influencing diverse areas, such as politics, interaction, music, film, fashion and business strategy. At this conference, we will explore how the role of industrial design is evolving and expanding by breaking through the traditional boundaries. The role of design is changing within many contexts, such as corporations, small firms and the community. We will hear from creative and inspiring individuals who are using design in unexpected places. These will not be the usual suspects. There will exceptional networking opportunities to connect with the Western US design community. Become part of the dialogue. Get inspired by timely and informative sessions, and enjoy great nights out at the 2012 Western Design Dialogue Conference.” Jason A. Morris, Associate Professor of Industrial Design, Western Washington University.
