Tactile Opens New Studio in Boston
Today, Tactile is proud to announce we’ve opened a new studio in Boston, Massachusetts. The studio will be led by newly appointed, VP of Design, Rich Hanks. A Massachusetts native, Rich has been a Design Director in the Seattle studio for the past six years and prior to joining Tactile, he worked in-house at Microsoft and Motorola. Why Boston? We specialize in designing tools for professionals in the medical and industrial product industries, so Boston seemed to be the right fit for us to open an additional design studio. Tactile brings a multidisciplinary design approach made up of industrial design, interaction design, and mechanical engineering to the East Coast. Our new studio gets us closer to our current partnerships and gives us an opportunity to connect with the growing Medtech innovation community in Boston. Interested in learning more about Tactile and our new studio? Give us a shout and we’d love to meet up!

Waterpik Launches New Water Flossers
On February 6 in New York City, Waterpik held an exclusive media event to launch two new products: the Sidekick Water Flosser and the Whitening Water Flosser. Alongside Waterpik, Tactile Design Manager, Jeff Ladwig, helped introduce both product’s design and engineering innovations that are just the beginning of a whole new era of Oral Health Care products. The Sidekick Water Flosser offers all the oral health benefits of a full-sized device, but in an ultra-compact and portable package, making it easy to floss on-the-go. Waterpik’s new Whitening Water Flosser combines patented water flosser and whitening infuser technologies to deliver a gentle whitening agent that’s mixed with water to remove stubborn stains between the teeth and hard-to-reach places. Designing Lifesaving Technology for EKOS®
Designing medical products isn’t just an expertise at Tactile, it’s a specialty—we love being a part of making an impact on lifesaving tools. Our partners at EKOS® received US FDA approval in February 2017 for one of their newest products, the EKOS Control Unit 4.0. The EKOS Control Unit 4.0 provides the power to the EKOS System’s ultrasonic core device that uses acoustic pulses to efficiently and safely dissolve blood clots and restore blood flow in patients with pulmonary embolism (PE). Looking to refresh their PE treatment device, EKOS enlisted Tactile to redesign EKOS Control Unit 4.0, the user interface, and the system’s packaging. Learn more about the project here.
