Tactile’s partnership with Genie all started when we redesigned the decades-old visual brand language across a family of aerial lifts and platforms. As a leading, global manufacturer and trusted brand for decades, Genie puts their customers first by listening to their needs to continue to improve product quality, minimize waste, and provide exceptional support.

A particular challenge is optimizing the servicing of Genie’s equipment. Genie reached out to Tactile to help design the Genie Tech Pro Link, a handheld diagnostic device that enables service technicians to select settings, perform calibrations, and provide full error code readings for simple diagnosing and troubleshooting.

Designed and Engineered to Last

Traditionally, servicing Genie’s lifts required bringing computers or other bulky devices on-site to read the machine’s service data and perform basic maintenance functions. Water-resistant and drop-tested, Genie Tech Pro Link was designed and engineered for any environment and all-weather conditions.

A magnetic back allowing technicians to work hands-free while accessing the needed data and WIFI-enabled connectivity provide the ability to work wirelessly around the machines. Its ergonomic, angled design offers a comfortable hold in one hand in either the right or left hand, even while wearing gloves. The compact size, wrist strap, and built-in flashlight make for efficient portability and additional light for hard-to-reach areas of the machine.

Easy as 1-2-3

With Genie Tech Pro Link, equipment diagnostic information is provided in real-time and is readily available, ensuring Genie boom lifts are up and running to maximize productivity and efficiency. Genie Tech Pro Link monitors the machine’s gauges, including engine temperature, oil pressure, fuel levels and battery voltage, calibrate the machine, make speed adjustments during

pre-operation inspection, get service alerts and reminders, track maintenance intervals, receive fault code information, and much more. Currently, Genie Tech Pro Link is compatible with Genie mid-sized S booms and compatibility with other Genie models is coming soon.

A Simplified User Interface

In addition to the industrial design and engineering, Tactile helped streamline the user interface design for more intuitive operation, which draws from our previous Genie project in redesigning Genie’s Base Control Unit.

The Genie Tech Pro Link handheld experience aligns with the lift controls, simplifying maintenance for entire fleets or single units through a single interface. The bold and easily recognizable icons were adapted to the low-resolution screen and optimized for readability on any jobsite.
